Often times we get caught up between the ups and downs of everyday life and we forget that we need time to reset. We need to understand that the hustles and bustles of life will never slow down, only we can. And yes, with all the competition among our peers, slowing down or taking a break may sound like a foreign concept.
But need I remind you that you are the only constant?
Isn’t it such a pity that the current trend of life has exalted popularity, lifestyle and money so highly that people are drowning themselves in unfathomable and toxic cultures/things just to get a glimpse of soft life? The social status quo is the new normal and the only metric of showcasing how well you’re doing in life.
No wonder so many young people are getting into depression. No wonder suicide cases have been on the rise. When life ceases being a journey and becomes a race instead, many are bound to throw in the towel and the pressure gets them to their breaking point. The old formula where a journey of a thousand miles begins with a step and Rome wasn’t built in a day has long been replaced by YOLO and get rich quickly schemes. It’s no surprise that Ponzi schemes have become the order of the day.
I digress.
Anyway, to today’s focus, shift your mindset from thinking happiness comes from tangible things. That only work brings fulfillment, money, accomplishment etc. Instead, focus on values that cannot be bought – peace of mind, tranquility, serenity, because these add more years to your life. Your general body health and most especially your mental health requires attention.
As the World Mental Health Day nears, we would like to remind you that you matter. Do not let the pressure of life get to you. Do not suffer in silence. We are rooting for you, every step of the way.
Transition from anything that affects your mental health ASAP. Whether it’s a toxic workplace or a
relationship. Make a change for the better. We’d rather have you healthy and surviving than wealthy and suicidal.
Take a break. Rest. Reset.
Over to you!
